 The Program

Our internship program focuses on community building, knowledge sharing, and skill development. The program involves engaging local business communities but is managed online so that you can learn and grow with us no matter where you are in the world. Internships are unpaid and can be adapted to fit the requirements for academic credit if necessary. The program lasts for 12 weeks with an optional extension of 3 to 6 months depending on your level of participation.

We believe internships empower you. That’s why learning is a major focus of our 12-week program. We’ve compiled a curriculum of videos and articles to help you learn and grow professionally. Some of the topics covered in the curriculum include the following:

• Network building

• Modern business tools

Build your network

As an intern, your work assignment will be to help connect heyway to business communities around the world and, in the process, build your own international network. You will be asked to engage local businesses and entrepreneurs by attending industry events on a regular basis. We will also ask you to report back on what you learn, who meet, and what has interested you. Building a database of contacts, representing heyway in these local communities, and getting our message to the world will also be part of your mandate.

details & Logistics

Length: 12 weeks

Event Attendance: You will be asked to reach out to your local business communities and attend networking and professional events on a regular basis. Over the course of 12 weeks, we would expect you to attend at least 1 event per week or the equivalent.

Weekly Updates: You will be expected to fill out and submit quick update once per week. A standard form will be provided.

Group Sessions: Depending on the number and location of participants in your cohort, online video chat sessions may be held once per week. You will be informed during orientation at the start of the internship whether or not group sessions will be offered or required.

Certificates: We will provide a certificate of completion for those who have fulfilled the following criteria: 1) 80% completion of weekly updates; 2) 80% participation in group sessions (if offered); and 3) 80% completion of work assignments.

Continued Collaboration: For participants who are eligible to receive a certificate, heyway may offer to extend the internship period by 3 to 6 months for participants wish to continue to be active members of the heyway community.
